Suk Josef: Suk, Dvořák & Beethoven: Romance - CD

When Master Josef Suk, celebrating his 80th birthday this year, recorded a CD of chamber works by Antonín Dvořák and Josef Suk for Supraphon last year, reviewers marvelled at the intimate mood, tone and interpretive directness of the recording. These attributes are present without fail on the Romance CD. Suk is accompanied by two of the best Czech orchestras in these 30-year-old pictures.

The recording conveys the essence of what the listener imagines when the Master's name is spoken: the beautiful, full and sophisticated tone of Suk's Stradivárek, his brilliant technique and deep feeling for the compositions of Czech and international composers, which seem to have been written on Suk's body. You can hardly find a better interpreter for Dvořák's Romance; the blood bond that binds the composer to the performer and, imaginatively, to "his" Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, simply cannot be overheard. You don't need to study this music, just let yourself be embraced by it with kindness and warmth.

Master Josef Suk in beautiful violin romances by Czech and international composers!
