Summer band: Like a dog

Summer Band is a musical project of singer and artist Jaromír Švejdík (Jaromír 99), who uses his years of experience from the Priessnitz, Umakart and Kafka Band phenomena. But also from collaboration with Czech legend Václav Neckář, with whom the band recorded Neckář's last recording so far, Snílek. Now comes Letní kapela with their new, second album Like a Dog.

Origin of the band

The summer band was born out of the original almost "neighborly" playing by the fire in Jaromír's beloved Jesenick and Rychlebské hory. Gradually, performances in a band line-up at events in the local region were added, until finally the line-up crystallized into its present form: Jaromir Svejdik (vocal), Lukas Moravek (guitars, ukulele, trumpet) Apostolos Ioanidis (electric guitar), Vojtech Seliga (keyboards), Petr Weiser (bass guitar) and Zdenek Jurcik (drums). Originally, the Summer Band focused on songs from Jaromir's earlier work, but later began playing their own repertoire, which they subsequently recorded on a well-received debut album in 2022. The band also established itself on concert stages across the country and managed to attract not only fans of Jaromír's aforementioned projects, but also new listeners. They appreciate especially the band's straightforward sound supported by Jaromír's unique speech, which presents often cheerless but always real themes.

Plate Like a Dog

New Like a Dog is a great record. Listeners can expect more sophisticated arrangements, compact musical performances, excellent sound and the still convincing interpretive charisma of the author of the complete repertoire, Jaromír Švejdík. Producer Dušan Neuwerth, Jaromír's long-time musical collaborator and friend, is again a major contributor to the final form of the recording. How the new album will sound, the band gradually presents through the already released singles. The First Problem is a nearly five-minute opus, where the lyrics and arrangement are brilliantly graduated, while Venkov with its lazy atmosphere refers to the summer comfort of Jaromír's favourite region. The band's sharper position is Noční jízda (Night Ride) as a memory of the nineties musician's life. An important part of the whole is the visual component of the album by Filip Raif, who designed the title graphic by Jaromír 99.
