Super-communicators

Discover the book that will teach you to listen better, negotiate more effectively, lead deeper conversations, and, most importantly, understand what others are telling you – even when they don't say it out loud.

How many opportunities have you missed because you failed to grasp the essential point? How many times have you felt that the other person just doesn't understand you? How well do you truly understand people?
Every day, we have conversations – with partners, colleagues, friends, and strangers. How is it that some flow naturally and even reach deeper dimensions, while others end in misunderstanding and frustration?
Pulitzer Prize winner Charles Duhigg distils the science of communication, drawing on real-life stories from NASA, the FBI, and psychology labs to reveal the secrets of supercommunicators. These are people who can successfully persuade others while also listening to them and remaining authentic.
In this book, Duhigg shows us that these skills are not innate. And that we can all learn them.
Among other things, you will learn about communication:
- Supercommunicators ask ten times more questions during conversations than others do
- Merely mirroring someone's mood and communication style won't win them over
- To get to a deeper conversation, we must be willing to reveal our own vulnerability
- We express most of our emotions not with words, but with our tone of voice, facial expressions, and gestures
- Relationships don't fall apart because of arguments, but because conflicts lack clear boundaries

Quote 1

This book blew me away. I find myself asking more questions and laughing more in conversations. Given how much we all talk, it's incredible how little we understand each other. This much-needed guide shows how to connect in today's disconnected world.
- Amanda Ripley, journalist and author
