Son

The desire to avenge his father is strong…

Sonny is the ideal inmate. In the modern, high-security Staten Prison, he enjoys considerable popularity, serving as a confessor to other prisoners—listening to their confessions and granting them absolution. It is rumoured that he takes the blame for others' crimes, serving their sentences in exchange for a regular supply of drugs. Detective Chief Inspector Simon Kefas, from the Oslo murder squad, is an old-school police officer. One day, he gets a new case and a new partner at the same time. Ab Lofthus was a police officer, Kefas's colleague and long-time friend, and also Sonny's father. He committed suicide years ago after being suspected of taking bribes, an act that turned both Sonny's and Kefas's lives upside down. The years in prison pass monotonously until Sonny unexpectedly overhears a shocking confession and sets out to judge the living and the dead.
