Synonyms - DVD

It doesn't matter what language you speak, some native synonyms are impossible to escape.

Yoav, a young Israeli who has just arrived in Paris, finds himself naked and without any of his personal belongings in the bathroom of a cold, empty flat for somewhat comical reasons.

He is rescued by Emile and Caroline, the couple who live on the floor above. Yoav is given money and clothes to start a new life. Although he is running away from his home country, which he finds "disgusting, smelly, obscene and vulgar", Nadav Lapid's sharp and biting satire shows he cannot escape his identity.
