Take a look at this country

In his latest book, 'Prohlédni si tu zemi' (Look at this Land), Václav Cílek builds on his previous successful titles dedicated primarily to landscapes and places – 'Krajiny vnitřní a vnější' (Landscapes Within and Without), 'Makom', and 'Dýchat s ptáky' (Breathing with Birds). The core of the book consists of essays on Prague and its genius loci. In other sections, the author focuses on both the Czech and Moravian landscapes (the Bohemian Central Highlands, South Bohemia, Ostrava) and on places that resonated with him during his geological research trips abroad (Sudan, Greece, Turkey). The essays on 'external landscapes' are complemented by texts of a more metaphysical nature – about the sanctity of Santini's buildings, the space associated with Jan Palach, and fragments from a never-completed Chinese anthology. The book is accompanied by illustrations from artist Vladimír Kokolia and 80 photographs by the author.
