Karel Čapek (1890 - 1938)

Karel Čapek was a journalist, novelist, playwright, translator, critic and author of books for children. He studied at grammar schools in Hradec Králové and Brno, graduated from the Academic Grammar School in Prague, and completed his studies at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague in 1915 with a doctorate. After graduating from university, Karel Čapek worked as an educator for the Lažanský family, as a librarian at the National Museum, and until 1938 as an editor at Narodni listy and Lidové noviny. He worked at the Vinohrady Theatre from 1921-23 as dramaturg and director.

Václav Vydra (1956)

After studying at the Prague Conservatory he began to play in the Kladno Theatre (Mladá Boleslav). He then played in the Prague City Theatres (1979-1994). He is most famous on the television screen in both film and series roles. He acted in very successful Czech films (Tank Battalion, Black Barons, etc. ) and also in fairy tales (From the Hell of Happiness, The Devils Are Not Jokes). Among the TV series we can mention e.g. There Were Five of Us, Life in the Castle, The Visitors or The Square. Václav Vydra is the author of a book about his mother, Your Dana Medřická.
