Tankard is a thrash metal band from Frankfurt, Germany, formed in 1982. Along with Kreator, Destruction, and Sodom, Tankard are often referred to as one of the "big teutonic four" of German thrash metal. They released their first album in 1986 and have continued writing and recording ever since in the same style they started with: fast thrash metal about beer and alcohol. When thrash metal took a bit of a backseat to grunge in the nineties, Tankard stayed true to themselves and in 1992 released another excellent slice of teutonic thrash with the ironic title "Stone Cold Sober".
