Tata Bojs: The Shagali Years 89-97 (2x CD) - CD

The now-established domestic band Tata Bojs are celebrating 30 years. But... every famous artist had to start somewhere. While most artists are embarrassed by their first steps, Milan Cais and Mardoša, the stable core of Tata Bojs, are not. Back in 2003, they bared all for the band's 15th anniversary with the release of the double CD Šagalí léta 89-97, which captured their toddler years in the world of show business. However, the album Šagalí léta was released in a limited run of only 500 copies and sold out quickly. Now, the first re-edition is being released in the same limited quantity – fittingly for their next, double anniversary.

Tata Bojs and the publisher sensed that the band's initial strength wasn't in top-class instrumental prowess or original songwriting abilities, but in their inimitable concerts full of quirky humour and bizarre songs. This is likely why the audio cassette Šagali šagáli, a recording of Tata Bojs' first concerts from the early 90s, was still selling in 2003. At the same time, their fans were fruitlessly searching for the 1994 CD known as Ladovo album.

The double CD Šagalí léta 89-97 made up for everything and added a lot more – not only does it contain the complete MC Šagali šagáli and the CD Ladovo album, but it also includes both songs released only on the CD Sampleru Black Point 1994, plus a host of other recordings, both studio and live, unreleased songs and jokes, and a few wacky interviews.
Mardoša wrote a detailed foreword for the booklet, spanning six(!) pages of fine print, and Milan Cajs, along with graphic designer Marek Pistora, graced the 2CD cover with a design in the style of the unbeatable Merkur construction set. Of course, there are also several period, sometimes unbelievable, photographs.
