Tea with the Taliban
This book is about what can happen to you when you unexpectedly appear on the border of Afghanistan without any plan. They did not know the local language, culture, or history. But still, for some strange reason, you decide to cross the border and soak up the local atmosphere. That' s exactly what I did in the summer of 2023, and only later did I discover that I was inappropriately dressed, that I had inappropriately long hair, and of course, inappropriate opinions. But still, this country surprisingly opened up to me. I sought out chance encounters with ordinary people and Taliban alike to find out what they feared, what they were happy about, or what they thought. And perhaps that was successful. Afghanistan is a country where they won' t let you walk down the street alone, because there will always be someone who wants to talk to you or is simply interested in who you are. So I tried to describe what I experienced firsthand and what I learned from people. Nothing more, nothing less. I' m just selling as I bought it.
By the way, I' m not a traveler. And I' m not a writer. I am a mathematician and a freethinker in my own way. Then, since I returned to Bohemia, I realized, that this is such an extraordinary and completely unpredictable experience, that it is worth it to share it with everyone, who are interested in these completely unknown regions, or even intend to visit them. And even for those for whom the Taliban is only a symbol of irreconcilable evil, hatred and uncontrolled violence. Because nothing is just black and white.
