Těžkej Pokondr: Star Boys - LP

The heavyweights of Czech showbusiness – Czech pop music stars Těžkej Pokondr – are announcing a big comeback!

This year, Pokondr are celebrating more than twenty years on the scene and are releasing a new album, Star Boys. Perhaps only Kabát and Lucie can compare in the Czech Republic in terms of the number of albums sold by the duo Miloš Pokorný and Roman Ondráček. Since 1996, when their single 'Saša jede' shook up the stagnant waters of Czech pop, they have sold over 500,000 albums and for several years in a row were the best-selling artists in the Czech Republic overall. Add to that the fact that as the "godfathers" of morning radio shows, they have one of the most listened-to broadcasts on the Czech airwaves and are still a sought-after hosting tandem on television screens. In the words of Ladislav Županič from the intro of the new album, we have the honour of presenting the phenomenal duo Těžkej Pokondr.

Without exaggeration, the album Star Boys will rank among the jewels of their rich discography. In great form in 2017, Pokondr are once again serving up hits from the near and distant past with Czech lyrics that not only parody the world-famous and local hits themselves but also wittily comment on the events around us.

Star Boys includes, for example, a cover of 'I'm Scatman', where Pokondr, with the Czech lyrics 'Kretén' and in collaboration with Matěj Ruppert, maintained the high standard of the original scat, while also reflecting on social media trends. 'Kretén' is also the album's lead single, accompanied by a music video. The dance hits are further represented by the tracks 'Má asi křena' (Macarena), featuring Adéla Gondíková, 'My jsme šoumeni' (We Are Family), 'Už nechcem hulit!' (I Like To Move It), and the erotically charged 'Já su sexy' (I'm Too Sexy). Classic rock tunes are represented by 'Ice Hockey Tiger' aka 'Náš Jarda Jágr' (Eye Of The Tiger) and 'Superstar' (I Love Rock And Roll). The legendary pop-rock ballad 'Love Hurts' becomes 'Levhart', and the song 'Easy', made famous by The Commodores and Faith No More, is reborn as 'Schízy'.

The 80s classic 'Da, Da, Da' becomes 'Blá, blá, blá', and 'Bakerman' by Laid Back is a tribute to the local band J. A. R., featuring Oto Klempíř as a guest. For lovers of the Italian macho style, there is 'Hynek Čermák' (L'Italiano), and for passionate readers, the only representative of Czech pop, the unforgettable film hit 'Vzhůru k výškám' with new lyrics, 'Úctu knížkám'. The 15 tracks on the CD are complemented by last year's charity song 'Maraton s kňourem' (More Than A Woman), which was Těžkej Pokondr's contribution to the global Movember foundation campaign.

The lyrics for the Czech versions were written by Xindl X, Lou Fanánek Hagen, and mainly by the "star boys" themselves, Roman Ondráček and Miloš Pokorný.

For the first time in their history, Těžkej Pokondr's new album Star Boys will also be released on the grooves of a black vinyl LP.

The digital version of the album does not include the song J. A. R. (Bakerman).
