The Antimemetics Division does not exist
Stories Your Brain Will Erase from Your Mind
There are.... that you cannot remember. You see them, but a moment later, they're gone. Not from the world. Just from your head.
Antimemes are entities that perfectly conceal their own existence. Some are harmless. Others are not. They feed on your memories, your identity, and reality itself—and you have no idea that anything has changed.
But it has. And it keeps changing. But how do you fight something you can't perceive? How do you fight when you don't even know you're at war? Your only chance is...
Welcome to the Antimemetics Division. No, this isn't your first day.
What they wrote about the book:
An unforgettable and brilliant novel that will completely mess with your head.
- The Guardian
An addictive and disorienting experience that will make you feel like a mad scientist has taken your brain apart and put it back together. I've never read anything like it.
- Jason Pargin, bestselling author of John Dies at the End
This sci-fi completely captivated me. It's smart, well-crafted, and fast-paced. I wasn't bored for a single page.
- Martina Rybičková, editor
A Lovecraftian tale for the increasingly unhinged era of Wi-Fi and terrifyingly accurate memes.
- The Washington Post
qntm - Sam Hughes
qntm is the internet pseudonym of Sam Hughes, a British writer and software developer who has been writing short stories and serialised sci-fi for most of this millennium. He likes to start with an interesting hypothesis and take it to its extreme. And then far beyond.
He began publishing fragments of the Antimemetics Division story as part of the SPC foundation community sci-fi project. The first version of the book was downloaded by several million readers. In 2025, qntm reworked his cult classic, and it is this final version that is now being published in Czech.
Or has it always been here?
