The Art of Resilience
What are the limits of the human mind and body?
157 days at sea 2,884 kilometres 1 indestructible man
Extreme adventurer Ross Edgley has spent years undertaking extreme experiments, pushing his body to the very limits of what's possible. He became the first person in history to swim around the entire coast of Great Britain.
During this epic 2,884-kilometre journey, Ross swam through giant jellyfish, arctic storms and polluted shipping lanes – swimming so hard and fast that his tongue started to disintegrate.
On his journey, Ross draws on his swimming experience and delivers incredible endurance performances, enabling him to overcome seemingly insurmountable pain, hardship, and adversity.
He also studies the achievements of extreme athletes, military and fitness specialists, and psychologists to uncover the secrets of mental fitness and explore the concepts of resilience, endurance, courage, and disciplined thinking in overcoming adversity.
“Ross proves that the body is a brilliant instrument when we give it time to adapt. However, it is still just an instrument that must be controlled by a strong spirit and a strong will. At that moment, we become a resilient being, capable of almost anything. In sport, but above all, in life. ”
