The Ballad of Dreams

A family saga about the depth of a man's desire to protect his loved ones and the decades of hidden guilt...
After breaking up with her boyfriend, Klára moves to her grandmother's house in Prague. Her roommate Viktor keeps her company and with his help she starts to renovate her new home. When he accidentally finds an old suitcase in the attic, he has no idea that its contents will reveal a secret that should have been lost forever in the past.
Klára thus gradually reveals the story of the family of the young Lucie, who, after the hardships of the Second World War, begins to experience even greater hardships. Centuries of rural rule are crumbling under the pressure of the socialist regime, peasants are being arrested, their property nationalised and peasant families are losing their homes. Lucia's family is also forced to endure repeated hardships and humbly accept the irrevocable losses of life.

But what role does Clara's grandmother play in the story and why doesn't she want Clara to continue her search?
