The boy who saw in the dark
For one boy, seeing differently means seeing more...
Jēkabs is a boy born into an unusual family. But he still wants to be like everyone else – riding his bike around the house, playing on his Game Boy, looking after a kitten, wearing a stylish jacket, swimming in the lake, and sending love texts to Liene.
My parents are blind. It’s nothing special. It’s just how it is. And it always has been. Who knows, maybe someone pointed out clause no. X, written in tiny print, to me at the huge entrance gate to this world, but that’s not important. What’s important is that, thanks to them, I was special. Me! Special! Special because I could see in the dark.
The Boy Who Could See in the Dark is one of the most distinctive works of modern Latvian literature.
