How to Save a Life and Become a Superhero
The book Paramedic's Flashlight is about the superheroes among us: not just professional paramedics, but also us ordinary mortals who—if we have the right information and a little courage—can save someone's life now and then.
Vít Samek, a former paramedic with the Prague Emergency Medical Service, has described some of the cases he attended, including a clear description of the correct first aid procedure, so that any of us can become a hero.
You have it all: a fall from a height, a stroke, epilepsy, drowning, a traffic accident. Something is always happening! And you just might happen to be there and help save a human life. Perhaps even the life of a loved one. Is there anything better to be proud of in life?
After returning from a night shift, paramedic Vít Samek decided to describe his fresh experiences from his duty to his friends on his Facebook page. And since then, to great acclaim, he has published them almost every week. It is impossible to read his stories without fits of laughter, frequent tears, and subsequent relief—when, at the end of the story, you read how to proceed correctly in that situation.
But the readers wanted more. And so the book Paramedic's Flashlight was created, which is the most entertaining book about first aid ever written.
Among other things, you will learn:
- How to handle first aid for the most common injuries and illnesses.
- Why to start resuscitation with chest compressions and why you should never breathe into a stranger.
- The specific considerations when treating a small child.
- When air ambulance paramedics will be dispatched to you and why they use military-grade goggles.
- How to communicate with dispatchers to get professional help as quickly as possible.
- That you should download the Záchranka app right now!
