The Case of the Strange Grave

When the lead archaeologist of the excavation in Pohansko near Břeclav, with the help of his friend, an enthusiastic archaeologist, accidentally discovers the foundations of a rotunda with a surrounding burial ground outside the hillfort, he is surprised to find that one grave is different from the others. Although someone undoubtedly noble and wealthy was buried there, it was not a soldier or a priest – the man had no helmet, sword, or other weapons. The only thing he had on his belt, which had a gold end-piece decorated with precious stones, was a small dagger with a golden hilt adorned with a large sapphire. Who could this mysterious man have been?
