Erika Burke is a botanist who dreams of travelling – preferably somewhere she won't be looked down on for her scientific interests. But a storm leaves her stranded with the cold and imperious Major Tristan Laurens, the Duke of Raynham. Tristan has unexpectedly become an heir and is now forced to solve a serious dilemma – caught between his duties as an intelligence officer and his duties as a duke. His short trip back to London to put his affairs in order is prolonged by bad weather and even worse news – someone is snooping for the military secrets he holds. Could his unconventional Irish visitor be the spy? Tristan needs to get a look at her diary and will do whatever it takes to get his hands on it.
Erika protects her diary as fiercely as she protects her heart, afraid to reveal a side of her nature that a man like Tristan could never understand. But even as she makes his task incredibly difficult, she discovers that falling in love might be all too easy.
