The fifth apple

A family saga set in Předmostí near Přerov.

Anděla and Fabián Franc own an orchard in the heart of fertile Haná, have a shop not far from the Church of St. Mary Magdalene - and many plans for the future. World War II is over, and they are breathing freedom. They want to elevate their orchard craft and fruit shop, but their sons Teodor and Eduard have diametrically different ideas... and time does not favour their parents' intentions either.

Unfulfilled dreams, the turbulent forty-eight years and the coming fifties shuffle the cards of their destinies wildly. The loss of the soil, saturated with the sweat and blood of previous generations, will eventually prove to be only a small bitterness in the series of life events.

Fate had something far more terrifying in store for them...
