The Golden Son

The second installment of the bestselling sci-fi saga of revenge and the fight for freedom on Mars

Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste of miners and laborers. He spent his youth toiling in a helium mine deep beneath the surface of Mars, believing he was preparing the planet for colonization by a hard-pressed Earth humanity. But his whole life was one big lie. The colour-coded Society he served is really just a vast slave hierarchy with a cruel and ruthless caste of Golds at its head.

Darrow, with the help of the rebel movement, infiltrates the Martian Institute, where the Society trains the Supreme Scarred Ones, the ruling class of the Golden Ones, the elite of the elite. In the course of his "studies", which are more of a ruthless struggle for survival of all against all, he develops into the best student, and thus gains the patronage of the House of Augustus, headed by the Arch-Governor of Mars, Nero. The man who had his beloved wife Eo hanged.

Darrow, in the service of the ruthless ruler of the Red Planet, plans revenge. But things get complicated as Darrow finds friendship, respect, and even love in the predatory world of the Golden Ones. He knows that a war awaits him that will change the fate of humanity, and that he will have to choose - either man's ultimate desire for revenge and bloody revolution, or Eo's message of love and hope for all.
