The Immense
Department Q is back on alert. Carl Morck, head of Q, is interrupted from his usual morning nap at work by a phone call. An unknown colleague, a police officer from the island of Bornholm, asks him for help, but Carl refuses. Hours later, he suffers the consequences and this time he fires his stubborn assistant Rose for real. Under great pressure, the Q Department revisits a seventeen-year-old and extremely tragic case of a car accident in which a young girl was thrown high into the branches of a tree. This time, the sober-minded Carl is faced with a very mysterious case, and his adversary, a skilled manipulator with an iron will, protects himself and his loved ones by all means and will not let anyone stand in his way. As the investigation unfolds, Rose, Asad, Carl and newcomer Gordon learn about the alternative living environment and cope with it in their own distinctive ways, while uncovering an old secret that threatens to put the Q-squad foursome on the chopping block. -----If the Immeasurable were a cocktail, it would be the Big Jussi. A strong cocktail in a tall glass with a black umbrella and a slice of lemon, professionally mixed from terrible circumstances and mysterious motifs. - PolitikenJussi Adler-Olsen has once again proved that he can put together a story with the components that make a good detective novel. He picked the right pace, works with tension, uses extremely tense scenes, sharp replicas, created strange characters and a familiar to readers, ...albeit a half-assed protagonist, who is full of wry humour and has a fair amount of social sense, that warms the heart, without appearing violent or polemical. - Merete Reinholdt, Berlingske Jussi Adler-Olsen (born. 1950) studied political science and film studies. He worked as a journalist, editor and publisher. He began his literary career with the bestseller Alfabethuset (The Alphabet House, 1997), followed by the novels Og hun takkede guderne (And She Thanked the Gods, 2003) and The Washington Decree (2006; Host 2014). He then began to focus on topics related to his native Denmark. So far he has written six episodes of a crime series about the Copenhagen police department Q: Woman in a cage, Killers, A message in a bottle, Folder 64, Marco and Immense, which went to number one on the Der Spiegel bestseller list after its publication in Germany. The first two episodes of this series were filmed and screened in Czech cinemas. A distinctive feature of the author's style and certainly one of the reasons for the huge international success of his books is his distinctive sense of humour, insight and irony.
