Our personality has the complexity, the intricacy and the potential of a real jungle. It contains hidden treasures, wandering roots and dangerous corners. There are sneaky monsters creeping around that want to take over us, and it is good to know about them and not let them take the helm of our behaviour. It is also inhabited by enlightened beings who will gladly lead us to freedom if we give them the opportunity.
If we have modern education, it tends to be more technical. We usually know how to work with computers, we know languages, we understand our field. However, we are often at a loss to understand people and their relationships. Getting to know these wild lands is extremely advantageous. If we understand what we are feeling and what we are doing, we can control our feelings and our behaviour and use our knowledge in another jungle – the one around us.
It pays to have a good map for a journey into the intricate landscape of the human psyche. One that doesn't involve you in details, but sticks to the essential context. Which does not resort to mysticism, but relies on science and facts. Jiří Plamínek drew such a map and gave it the form of this book. It is practical, includes numerous examples and is designed for immediate use.
