The Killer's Apprentice

Cold and thick fog cover London. Scotland Yard Inspector Ben Ross has other concerns than the vagaries of the weather, however, as the body of a young woman has been found in the back of a restaurant on Piccadilly. Who is the victim and how did she end up in such a place? The search takes Inspector Ross first to Salisbury and then to the owner of the land in Yorkshire. Meanwhile, Ben' s wife Lizzie, with the help of their maid Bessie, investigates the mystery of a girl who is apparently imprisoned in her own home. While Ben works hard on a case that seems to be getting more and more complicated, Lizzie uncovers an important piece of evidence that could lead to solving the crime.
