The Knick: Doctors Without Borders Season 1 (4DVD)

This brand-new drama from Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh, starring Oscar-nominated Clive Owen, is set in the year 1900. In downtown New York, the Knickerbocker Hospital, nicknamed The Knick, is in turmoil. It's facing a dire financial situation and an exodus of wealthy patients. The last remaining top physician, Dr. Thackery (Clive Owen), must keep the hospital and himself afloat, alongside the surgeons, nurses, and other staff. The Knick offers a fascinating look at many of the pivotal issues of the era (most of which are still relevant today): race and class divides, groundbreaking (and uncontrolled) changes in the medical field, drug addiction, and more. The star-studded series also features André Holland (Dr. Algernon Edwards), Juliet Rylance (Cornelia Robertson), Eric Johnson (Dr. Everett Gallinger), Michael Angarano (Dr. “Bertie” Chickering Jr.), Eve Hewson (Lucy Elkins), and others.
