The Lying Life of Adults

Naples with its contradictions, dialect, passion and violent emotions. These are the themes that Elena Ferrante, author of the famous Genius Girlfriend, keeps returning to. Her latest novel, The Lying Life of Adults, translated into English by Sarah Baroni and published by Prostor, is set in Naples and is told from the point of view of a woman, more precisely a teenage girl, who on her way to adulthood has to cope with the break-up of her family and the loss of her illusions about her parents and adults in general.
