The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance - DVD
Senator Ranse Stoddard returns to the wild west, to the town of Shinbone, to attend the funeral of his old friend, Tom Doniphon. The senator tells local journalists the story of what brought him to Shinbone long ago and how his career began as the man who shot Liberty Valance, the most feared bandit in the area.
Jimmy Stewart stars as the likeable, greenhorn lawyer with big-city manners, determined to rid the town of Shinbone of the bandit Liberty Valance (Lee Marvin). And as if that weren't enough, the rancher is played by the biggest star to ever draw a revolver: John Wayne.
Sincere Stewart and rugged Wayne are also linked by their interest in the same girl (Vera Miles). One gets the gunman, the other gets the girl.
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance is one of the best and most famous westerns in history. A modern western that surpasses all others, and along with The Searchers, it ranks among the best works of its genre. Under the direction of John Ford, whose name is practically synonymous with the term western, an ideal cast came together.
