Historical detective story
Lukáš Trobl, a scribe of the provincial court with a commission for special tasks, investigates the murder of his alchemist friend Valentin Weigel, who was killed apparently in order to get hold of a secret recipe. However, he has been removed from the case. He has to find out who he really is and what the mysterious alchemist Barbara, with whom the Emperor Rudolf II himself fell in love, is after. She is said to be the niece of Dr. John Dee, who was once banished from Prague on the Emperor's orders.
