The other side of the river

A novel with a detective plot. The two story lines of the novel are connected by the mysterious river Černá. There, in the unspecified past, we see the tragic story of the ploughman Jakub and his fiancée Lota, and in the present we meet Adam and his girlfriend Judith. Strange things are happening at the Black River. Adam's father doesn't come home from work, Richard, a homeless man, is also killed and a fisherman is brutally murdered. The narrative jumps from one shore to the other, from the era of stagecoaches and corsets to the present and back again. Out of the foggy mists emerge stormtroopers, cheeky queens of the night, ghosts, bee tamers and the inventor of a strange drink. A river flows between the two stories, both calmly and violently. One moment it gently rocks the heroes, only to pull them down into its dark depths the next. The book published in 2024 (published by. Kniha Zlín) was edited by the author for Czech Radio.
