The road to the billboard

This collection of short prose by the poet, journalist, and theatre director Ondřej Škrabal is united by the theme of progress and the need for constant improvement. The journey to the nearby West is a kind of fascination with something better, with that which we look up to in the hope that we will be allowed to observe something. In the background of almost all the texts, the question returns of where this vague West begins and ends, and who is part of it today: “If you wait, progress will eventually come on its own.”
