
The Singing of the Nightingale
During the celebrations for the founding of the monastery in Zlatá Koruna, a singing competition is held, among other entertainments, in which Squire Ota participates. This time, however, it is not just about artistic prestige; from the very beginning, tension is palpable between the Czech and Austrian nobility. The Minnesinger Tannhäuser also intervenes in the dispute over the winner. His erotically charged poems, however, are not to the taste of the church representatives. Everything might have been resolved peacefully if the abbot of the French monastery Vallée d'Orr, who brought the Cistercians here, had not been murdered during the night. King Přemysl Otakar II tasks Oldřich of Chlum with finding the criminal as soon as possible, ensuring the festivities are not disrupted. But just as the first suspect emerges, another murder occurs…
