The Sixth Extinction
The audiobook The Sixth Extinction is the tenth instalment in the action-thriller series featuring the elite Sigma Force unit. Written by James Rollins, translated by Zdík Dušek. Narrated by Jiří Schwarz, directed by Jakub Tabery.
Sigma Force #10
A military research station in the remote Sierra Nevada mountains of Northern California sends out a distress call ending with a chilling request:
“This is Sierra, Victor, Whiskey. We have a breach. Containment failed. Kill us… kill us all.”
When help arrives, they find no one alive—and it's not just the researchers who are dead, but every living organism within a hundred-square-kilometre radius: animals, plants, and even bacteria. The soil is perfectly sterile—and the devastation is spreading.
Only one team in the world has the necessary scientific knowledge and military experience to handle such a mission: Commander Gray Pierce and Sigma. The dead researchers were working on a secret project studying fundamentally different life forms on Earth, forms that could change our understanding of biology and the very essence of humanity. But an explosion occurred in the laboratory, and now Sigma must deal with the apocalyptic consequences.
To prevent an inevitable doom, they must unravel a futuristic threat with roots in the distant past—to a time when Antarctica was a green continent and life on Earth teetered on a knife's edge.
Following clues from an ancient map from the lost Library of Alexandria, Sigma eventually makes a shocking discovery about a prehistoric continent and a new form of life and death buried under kilometres of ice. Gray Pierce and his dedicated team must journey through ancient historical epochs and distant continents to decipher millennia-old secrets and solve mysteries hidden in the darkest jungles of the present day—only then can they stop the sixth extinction, which threatens all of humanity.
But is it already too late?
