The powerful story of a poor girl from Lourdes in Pyrenees
Life of St. Bernadette Soubirousová presents the famous novel by the Austrian-Czech author Franz Werfel. The book The Song of Bernadette is inspiring even for those who have not yet encountered Christianity. The powerful story of a poor and simple girl from Lourdes in sub-Pyrenees is a testimony to the love of God, which often works beyond all human and ecclesiastical laws. The apparition of the Virgin Mary to Bernadette gave birth to one of the most famous pilgrimage sites.
The author wrote it as a thank you to God for having escaped Nazi-occupied France and managed to emigrate safely to America. The audiobook is presented in a masterful translation by Jitka Fučíková and in a sensitive performance by actress and moderator Kateřina Rýznar. You may know this treatment as the Readings on Continuation from Radio Proglas.
