The speech of communist power

The authorised book edition of three studies dedicated to the semantic analysis of the language of communist propaganda from the 1970s and 1980s, especially the editorials of Rudé právo and the speeches of so-called party officials: Lid, demokracie, socialismus (1978), Pohádka o Stalinovi (1980), and Zrcadlo komunistické řeči (1989). The first two studies were originally published in separate samizdat editions and were later included in an unauthorised exile edition of the author's works in the collection Jazyk a moc (Munich, Arkýř 1983), which was also published in a French version (translated by Erika Abrams and with a foreword by André Glucksmann) in 1986 under the title L'esprit post-totalitaire (Paris, Bernard Grasset).
