The stars didn' t want us - DVD
Hazel and Gus are two exceptional teenagers who combine biting humor, contempt for conventions and, above all, love for them. Their relationship is all the more unusual because they met and fell in love during a meeting at a cancer support group session.
Hazel Grace Lancaster ( Shailene Woodley ) is sixteen years old. She loves (and at the same time tolerates) her sometimes overly caring parents and has just looked at a young man named Gus Waters ( Ansel Elgort ), who in return fell in love with her.
As they get closer, Hazel and Gus share their concerns about their health problems while sharing a love for books, including Hazel' s favorite novel, The Imperial Illness. Many times she tried in vain to connect with the author of the book, the loner Peter Van Houten ( Willem Dafoe ). When Gus manages to contact Van Houten, the writer unexpectedly invites them both to Amsterdam. Gus is determined to take Hazel on a journey to find answers to all the questions she ever had about the book.
But the answers he seeks do not come from Peter Van Houten. He comes from a great adventure that Hazel will experience with someone he is not afraid to love and who gave them both something that Hazel calls “Little Eternity - infinity between the summed days. "
