The Survivors

When her husband commits suicide, Jitka’s world falls apart. She is left alone with her eight-year-old son, who is growing distant, her husband's family, who blame her for Pavel's death, and above all, with tormenting questions to which she cannot find answers. Why did he do it? Am I to blame? What will happen to us now? And how am I supposed to start living again? Months of searching, missteps, and striving to become a strong woman who can take care of not only herself but, most importantly, her child, lie ahead of her. The novella The Bereaved is a story of lonely souls trying to find their place again in the ruins of their own lives, ending up in dead ends more often than they would like.
