The Three Musketeers after twenty years (SK)

After the huge success of The Three Musketeers, Alexandre Dumas created a sequel to The Adventures of the Four Brave Friends. Twenty years have passed since the last events, and only d'Artagnan remains in the royal service. France is seething, not only the people are dissatisfied, but also the nobility. At the side of the widowed Queen Anne of Austria stands Cardinal Mazarin, a schemer and miser who succeeded the feared Cardinal Richelieu. And it is he who commissions d'Artagnan to seek out his friends and bring them back into service. D'Artagnan throws himself into his role with vigour, but he is in for many surprises. What happened to Athos, Porthos and Aramis? Will they be able to protect the Queen and the little King from the rebellious Parisians and Princes? Dumas did not disappoint his readers' expectations. This novel from his oeuvre does not lack suspense, intrigue, betrayal, but also the legendary Dumasian humour.
