The university as an office?

The monograph deals with the administration of the University of Prague (after 1882 universities) and typical university official documents. It focuses on the period from the mid-18th century to the passage of the Higher Education Act of 18 May 1950. The author introduces readers to the development of the handling of official documents in the process from their creation to their storage in the archives and compares the set norms with reality. A great deal of attention is paid in the text to university registers and qualification documents, e.g. diplomas. They are part of the described typology of writings and tracking their transformations. On the basis of the issued documents, the operation of the university office and the tasks it performed during the period under review are examined.
