The viper and the wolf

She was trained to die, but forbade herself to love. And if she is to fall, so too will the entire empire. The first book in the Dark Legacy romantasy trilogy. All her life, they have tried to train Vaasa to be the perfect weapon. After losing her mother, Vaasa is sure her own death is near. A dark magic has awoken within her, consuming her from the inside out. Her power-hungry brother believes this too, and he wants to use Vaasa for political gain before eliminating her. As the eldest male of the family, he marries her off to Reid of Mireh, a ruthless foreign ruler, hoping her death will serve as the pretext he needs to finally invade Reid's land. All Vaasa has to do is die. But Vaasa desperately wants to live. She enters her forced marriage with a plan to escape. To her surprise, however, Reid offers her a deal: if she helps him maintain his power, he will let her go free. In exchange for her cooperation, he will also share the knowledge of magic that the learned women of his land possess, so that her own power does not destroy her. The offer may be too good to refuse. But sparks begin to fly between Vaasa and Reid, and that could jeopardise their arrangement. As her brother's deadly intrigues take shape, not only Vaasa's freedom but the future of entire empires will be at stake. The Serpent and the Wolf, the first instalment in the gripping Dark Legacy romantasy trilogy, masterfully combines political intrigue and an enemies-to-lovers romance, and will captivate readers of the Throne of Glass and A Court of Thorns and Roses series.
