The Who: Who - LP

After a long 13 years, The Who released their twelfth album in 2019, with the simple and telling title, Who.

"The album is made up of songs that, apart from two, were all written last year," explains Townshend. "There is no theme, concept or story to the album; it's just a collection of songs that my brother Simon and I wrote to inspire, challenge and give Roger Daltrey an opportunity to try out his newly revived voice. Roger and I are old men now, by any measure, so I've tried to stay away from romance and nostalgia as much as possible. I didn't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable. Memories are okay, though. Some of the songs also refer to the alarming state of the world today."

"I think we've made our best album since Quadrophenia in 1973," adds Daltrey. "Pete is still a great lyricist."
