There' s a monster in the house.

Horror is a whole world to live in. We are all afraid of something. The book by leading horror critic and fan Antonín Tesař will take readers to various cinematic and literary corners of this genre and show how extraordinarily diverse and broad it can be. You will taste the cosmic horror of H. P. Lovecraft, you will learn why Stephen King is one of the highest paid writers today, you will travel from films like Rosemary' s Baby to David Cronenberg' s cult films to queer horror films. The excursion will take you to folklore monsters from Nigeria, Latin America or the Eastern Bloc. Antonín Tesař refutes prejudices, brings new perspectives on horror, and shows that this genre is not just there to scare. It is published with an afterword by Ivan Adamovič.

Antonín Tesař (1983) is a film journalist, editor of the bimonthly Cinepur magazine, and dramaturg of the Hardened Viewer Festival.
