There's no way out
In July 2006, in Helmand province, Major Adam Jowett was put in command of Easy Company, a hastily assembled and under-strength unit of paratroopers and Royal Irish Rangers. Their mission was to hold the regional centre of Musa Qala at all costs. Cut off from the outside world and facing a vastly outnumbered Taliban force, Easy Company found themselves in a dilapidated compound in the town.
The author recounts the excitement and chaos of battle, in which the Taliban unleash a wave of brutal attacks on Easy Company. He describes what it was like to be responsible for the lives of his men, who defended themselves heroically during twenty-one days and nights of relentless, nerve-wracking combat. Finally, as their ammunition ran low and the soldiers of Easy Company faced certain death, the siege took an extraordinary turn.
This thrilling and moving book is the author's tribute to the men of Easy Company who paid a high price for serving their country.
