This dream

Writer Martina Forman's fourth title on the Tebenas label is the author's only novel not based on autobiographical experiences. The story of twenty-year-old Daniela, who in the 1980s tries to find her own space in the grey and boring Prague. With a few small deceptions, lies and a dose of luck, she manages to emigrate across the Atlantic. There, after a difficult struggle, the tables are turned and Daniela heads for her dream happiness. But then the Velvet Revolution breaks out in her native country and her husband-to-be wants to get to know his future wife's native land at any cost. So Daniela goes back to Czechoslovakia, which she wanted to erase from her mind forever. She has no idea how much this short-term return will change her life.

A raw story that will remind not only all those who remember the times when life under socialism was one big hopelessness.
