Through desert and forest

The year is 1885. A 14-year-old Polish boy, Stas Tarkowski, and an 8-year-old English girl, Nela Rawlison, are kidnapped on the orders of the Mahdist commander Smayne. He plans to exchange them for members of his family imprisoned in Egypt. Fortunately, Stas and Nela escape their captors with two slaves, whom they free. Their dangerous and adventurous journey to freedom, thousands of kilometres long, leads them across the deserts of Egypt and Sudan to the forests of central Africa and the coast of the Indian Ocean.
