To life and death

When the Adams brothers mounted their horses in front of the saloon and rode off, Reb Adams didn't ask any questions just yet. But as they left the last houses of the town behind, he began to grow impatient. “Hey, Jeff, was there really such a big reason to drag me out of the pub like a little boy?” “We’re riding to Guntherville,” Jeff replied. “It's about time you sobered up, little brother. Ollie had a duel with Joey Kilroy. He killed him and is pretty badly wounded himself. If the Kilroys get to Guntherville before we do, they'll skin Ollie alive. To all of their clan, Joey Kilroy was their precious golden boy. I'm sure they've already heard about his death and are on their way. Do you understand, Reb?” “Completely!” Reb Adams nodded grimly and spurred his horse. It was now clear to him that his brother Ollie’s life was at stake. Now it all depended on who could cover the twenty miles to Guntherville faster in the saddle – the Adamses or the Kilroys.
