Today I'm not working - DVD

After the war, Vladimír Slavínský returned to a subject he had already developed for the screen once before - Olga Scheinpflugová's theatre play The Screen.

At that time, the main role of the psychiatrist Johánek was played by Hugo Haas, in the new adaptation he was successfully portrayed by Jan Pivec. He has succeeded in creating a cute, impractical bachelor exactly in the spirit of the original.

The film tells the story of Dr. Johanek, who drinks heavily on his appointment as a docent and suffers a memory lapse in the morning. He is told that he has behaved in an undignified manner and two pretty neighbours try to take advantage of this. This conversational merrymaking is one of Slavínský's finest works.
