The final volume of Pavel Dvořák's book cycle Traces of the Ancient Past was not written by the author, who died unexpectedly in December 2018
His wife, the historian Daniela Dvořáková, took on the task of completing the book series in his place. Based on her personal correspondence and her husband's literary legacy, she has written a gripping biography that chronicles the life and work of Pavel Dvořák during the thirty-four years she spent by his side.
Each chapter is accompanied by texts by Pavel Dvořák that were written in the period covered by that particular chapter. The tenth volume of Traces of the Ancient Past is thus a joint work of both spouses. It is an intimate account of love, married life, death and grief, and at the same time it is a book full of history, thoughts and ideas from Pavel Dvořák's work. The audiobook was sensitively narrated by Gabriela Dzúriková and Martin Kaprálik. Pavel Dvořák could no longer write this book himself and yet he is its author. It's his "unwritten" book.
