Transformation and other short stories
Gregory Samsa, a young and hard-working business traveller, whose salary is the basis of his family's functioning, wakes up one day to find that he has turned into some kind of disgusting insect and that instead of normal words, only strange noises are coming out of his mouth. Unfortunately, his mind has remained human and so he must gradually watch as those closest to him drift away. Except for the Transfiguration, which is probably Franz Kafka's most famous short story and inspired the filmmakers to make the famous horror film The Fly, the book contains other equally successful stories, such as Ortel, In the Disciplinary Camp and the original stand-alone collection Tiny Tales to My Father, where we find the famous story of the Country Doctor.
