Treatises and recipe books

This publication makes accessible the fundamental sources on artistic technologies and procedures used for works of art in the past, which are scattered across hard-to-find, mostly foreign-language publications. It includes a total of 36 separate texts, arranged chronologically and covering the period from the 8th to the early 18th century. The book is intended for a wider professional audience, which is why individual recipes are supplemented with brief explanations or commentaries where necessary; references to recipes and descriptions of a similar nature are then placed after the relevant paragraphs.
