Treble Clef

A book of reflections, portraits, lyrics and poems, encounters with people both famous and unknown, experiences of artistic and sporting performances, and the search for an anchor in life. Intimate, open insights into our desires, the context of our lives, and creativity in any field. Following the success of the book O květině (About a Flower), the author presents a loosely related title inspired by the festive Sunday mornings she has shared with her listeners on Czech Radio Dvojka for thirty years. Her distinctive literary way of communicating with those who listen to her was described in a letter by one of them as follows: “When the writer Zuzana Maléřová presents Good Morning, I listen to her very attentively. She approaches the microphone with courage and the mastery to sweep away the often dusty forms. I feel that she is really talking to everyone who is listening to her. Indeed, with her own intellectual power, delicate tact, human warmth, and courage to condemn evil, she enhances the listener's interest in the given topic and gains their participation in the effort to lead a life in which everyone can take stock of their own soul. For us, Zuzana Maléřová is a clear bridge across which even difficult life stresses can be resolved, or the aspects of sadness and fear can be neutralised.” And Professor Miloš Horanský wrote in his review: “The unmissable work of Zuzana Maléřová immediately provokes the question of where her distinctiveness lies. It is, of course, in her personality itself, which is not only apparent in all her books but also strongly and rightly asserts itself. And the second reason is the ingenuity of genre, the unconventionality, even the discovery of new forms of storytelling.” This is fully true of this book, which is symbolically opened by a treble clef.
