Tučný Michal: Legend Golden Collection (3x CD) - CD

The definitive compilation of Michal Tučný's greatest hits! This three-CD lavish Golden Collection edition features sixty + 1 songs from 1969 to 1994, the year the singer's musical journey, and shortly thereafter his life's journey, sadly came to an end.

His brilliant musical career is meticulously mapped out here, with recordings primarily with the bands Greenhorns - Zelenáči, Fešáci, Tučňáci, and Žízeň. However, it also documents Tučný's other collaborations, for instance with Weekend, Minnesengry, Golem, and the Czechoslovak Television Orchestra. Altogether, it's a showcase not only of the singer's most essential songs but also of many of the most important entries in the entire Czech country scene of the last third of the 20th century. Listening to them will convince you that their quality and appeal rightfully endure.

The order of the songs (selected and compiled by the stylistically experienced compiler Milan Svoboda) is not strictly chronological, but it is perfectly listener-friendly. The cover art by Gábina Novotná is essentially a family collection of interesting graphics, several key texts, and sensitively chosen photographs. The whole package thus fully corresponds to the title 'Legend' and the fact that this selection is being released during a period of remembrance, marking a sad twenty years without Michal Tučný. He will also be commemorated at a special concert in Prague's Lucerna in April, where this new 3CD set will be launched.

It's impossible to list all the songs included on it, as there are more than six dozen, alphabetically from Abych tu žil to Waterloo. What is certain is that you can get them all together in this scope for the first time, in this digipack format and with the optimal sound quality of a recent remastering. The most important item on the list of this new compilation's strengths, however, is the enduring inspiration of the music and lyrics, and above all, the unmistakable delivery of our legendary singer. He helped move the domestic western style from traditional cowboy songs to modern, electrified country, a fact that still holds perfectly true.

61 of Michal Tučný's greatest hits on a new 3CD set!
